There's nothing better than enjoying a dinner, cup of tea or nightcap outdoors during the summer. However, even the most relaxing summer evenings can be ruined by pesky mosquitos.

Mosquitos are the most active in Canada between May and September. And while they're most active during the evening, they can bite at any time of day.

One way to keep the bugs at bay and enjoy the summer season is with the Patio Shield Mosquito Repeller by Thermocell, available on Amazon Canada.

Thermacell’s Patio Shield Mosquito Repeller is a portable alternative to candles and bug sprays that helps create a 15-foot mosquito-free zone.

The unit itself is powered by a 12 hour fuel cartridge that creates enough heat to activates one of the three repellent mats that last for up to four hours each (refills are available to purchase online).

Once inserted, it takes approximately 15 minutes for the mosquito-free zone to be created.

Thermacell’s mosquito repeller is currently ranked as the bestselling outdoor ultrasonic insect and pest repeller with a 4.2-star customer rating based on more than 100 customer reviews.

Amazon Candaa shoppers have said that Thermacell’s unit works to create a space where you can enjoy eating outdoors “without being bothered by bugs.”

“We went camping and I came back with zero bites,” one shopper wrote.

“Something that actually repels mosquitos," another said.

"We can sit outside and enjoy the outdoors," wrote a shopper who said they were experiencing a "bad" mosquito season.

While there are mostly positive reviews online, some shoppers have noted that the refills can be costly; a 120-hour refill is currently available on Amazon Canada for $70. While it may not be the cheapest solution, shoppers have said the repeller “actually works” and have said that they use multiple units to create a larger space on their patio for guests to enjoy.

If you do a lot of outdoor entertaining and need something that will help keep mosquitos away, Thermacell's Patio Shield Mosquito Repeller might be for you. Although each unit only creates a 15-foot mosquito-free space, it's a great alternative to candles and sprays that you can set up around your dining table or pool area to enjoy endless hours of mosquito-free fun outside.

ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkey’s central bank kept its main interest rate unchanged for a fifth month running on Thursday despite an annual inflation rate of nearly 70%. OTTAWA (Reuters) -Canada's Supreme Court on Friday upheld a decision by a lower court to speed up the parole eligibility for the man convicted of gunning down six people in a mosque in 2017 and deemed a 2011 law that allowed lengthy parole sentencing as unconstitutional. Canada's top court was adjudicating on the case challenging a 2020 decision by a Quebec court to lower Alexandre Bissonnette's parole eligibility to 25 years from the original sentence that required him to wait much longer for the possibility of parole. The Supreme Court said that such a punishment removes a realistic possibility of parole and called it "incompatible with human dignity."
