We can't believe we really have to write it, but guys... "Kill it with fire" is never a literal suggestion.

A Brazilian man almost blew himself up and his backyard while trying to deal with some pests, and found the exact cause.

If you are a fan of viral videos, you may have seen footage taken by his security camera. If not... then you will be surprised.

But first, let us tell his story.

The man was identified by the Brazilian news media as 48-year-old Cesar Schmitz. Cesar has a problem that many of us are very familiar with: cockroaches.

If you have ever dealt with them, you will know that they are a bug that is difficult to get rid of us.

If you live in an apartment like many people in the city, they will often sneak to the next apartment before returning to you. If you live in the suburbs, you know they do the same thing.

People in the countryside find that they have to clear and dispose of acres of land in order to get rid of them after they establish their own land. Small animals can survive for a long time without a head and reproduce at an alarming rate, which is of course to no avail.

They said that only Cher and the cockroaches survived the nuclear disaster.

They are difficult to get rid of.

Cesar's home in Enéas Marques was attacked. Cockroaches have moved in and infested his backyard.

It is understandable that his wife is afraid and disgusted by them, and she asks him to get rid of them.

This is when most people will hire professionals. Cesar is definitely not the majority. Instead of calling a pest control professional to deal with the yard, he chose a DIY solution.

Cesar armed himself with a can of fuel and a box of matches and began to carry out the mission. First, he poured fuel in what he thought was the center of cockroach activity.

Then, without clearing the area or putting his dog in, he struck a match and threw it, hoping to start a fire. No, he doesn't seem to have a hose or fire extinguisher at hand to put out the fire he wants to ignite.

The first scene failed to ignite.

Cesar has time to reconsider his plan. He chose not to use that moment, but he owns it, so at least... right?

Security footage showed that Cesar ignited almost immediately and lost the second game. He took a step back, looking forward to the flames that whizzed past, but found nothing again.

His two beagles showed only confused expressions, that's it.

It's as if they knew it would not end well...

Cesar then took a step back and once again had the opportunity to reconsider. Again, he went forward bravely.

You know what they say, the third time is charm...

Game 3 came to an end. At first it looked like it would fail like other games, but no! On the contrary, after a brief pause in nothingness, almost all of Cesar's backyard exploded.

The fuel must have penetrated the ground and collected in a pocket because the explosion came from the ground.

It scares the dog (don't worry, both puppies are unharmed). It makes his outdoor furniture fly in the air. It made Cesar stand in shock, mud and grass everywhere.

That is...not the pest control method we would choose.

In order to add a lively insult to the near injury, the explosion did not solve the cockroach problem at all. In fact, after Cesar’s homemade yard bomb, you can see a cockroach walking leisurely on the terrace away from Cesar.

There is no word on whether Cesar (or his wife) has hired any actual pest control experts-although Cesar does admit that if he, the dog, or the table are slightly different, all this will be very bad.
